Antique Slides by H.G.Wells, circa 1890.
Antique microscope slides made by H.G.Wells, circa 1890. The label was fixed to the drawer of an old slide cabinet.
Wells was an enthusiastic microscopist and documented a visit to the workshop of nineteenth century mounter Martin Cole (son of the mounter A.C.Cole). It is possible Wells continued producing his own slides as a young teacher in the 1890s.
